Augie's Blog 101

My name is Augustine Koomson, originally from Ghana, West Africa and currently residing at Sayreville in central New Jersey with my sweet and over active family. Yep, a feisty three year old son and a one and a half year old daughter bent on outdoing the entire family put together.

This is my seventh class at BU towards the MS. project management degree.
My background is in architecture and presently work for a mid-size design firm that specializes in corporate interiors and facility master planning. On a number of my recent projects client's have requested for open plans in a bid to increase interaction and collaboration.
How then do we deal with privacy and distraction. I believe I'm not alone. Please share your experiences and thoughts.

  1. Hi Augie,

Good to see you in another class. Good start on the blog but perhaps you could add some picture when you get a chance, It would be great to see a face associated with that familiar name. Good luck in class and I look foward to working with you.

  2. Hi Augie,

I recalled posting on your blog yesterday so it may be most useful to the facilitator if you allowed the blog setting to display archieve comments from classmates. Take care and look forward to working with you.

    1. Hello Kenneth,
Thanks for your feedback.I never got the chance to improve on my initial blog post because the little girl had a medical emergency. Being in and out of emergency rooms since Thursday night.
      Got to get back.

  3. Hi Augie,

I like the simplicity and neatness of your blog. “Augie’s Blog 101” is a perfect title for your first blog.

New Jersey must be a nice place to live. I also live on the East Coast in New Hampshire.

    1. Hello Susie,
Jersey was great until this morning. Snow all over. Its nice and refreshing for a change. But i hope we avoid the crippling storms this season.
This being my maiden blog, it was simple to avoid messing things up. Check these revisions up and let me know your thoughts
Good luck in class and hope to learn from you

  5. Hi Augie,

Growing up I was very interested in arquitecture, but then went towards banking. I love banking, but I'm still attracted to arquitecture. I like your new blog :)

    Good luck!

  6. Hi Augie,

I too live in NJ. I am in Sparta right on top of Sparta mountain. This is the 2nd highest elevation in NJ and sitting on about 10" of snow.

I really like the background of your blog - it works well.

Architecture is a great background but very difficult to apprentice and find work.

Look forward working with you in this class!

  11. Augie,

In contrast to your first blog creation, this is wonderful. I love the picture you picked for the background, its interested, complicated and visually rich. It is also great to see a picture of you. My uncle, Doug Bryant and his wife Ann were baptist missionaries in Ghana for nearly 30 years and just returned back to the US to live in retirement in South Carolina. They love your country. Great getting to know you and look forward to working with you.

  13. Hi Augie,
Great to meet you. I like your format and clean look of your blog. I would suggest some links or photos of jobs you've done or work you admire. I've found architects have their own unique style and with your Ghana roots, I' be curious to see what appeals to you. My best friend is an architect and I actually put the privacy and distraction question to him since he deals with these issues as well.
He recommends and I'm seeing it more and more in corporate NYC that as long as their are break-out rooms for quiet or private calls and spaces for group discussion, the open floor plans lend to better collaboration and working relationships. Even Billionare Mike Bloomberg sits on the floor in open cubicles when he is at the Bloomberg Corp Offices.
Good Luck with the plans and I look forward to learning more.
    Best,
    Jake
